A report has surfaced showing that for Q4 2010, Apple held second place amongst all other smartphone makers. Apple shipped 16.2 million units equaling a 16.1% market share. Nokia was ranked first with 28.3 million units shipped with a 28% market share.
For the whole 2010 year, Apple ranked 3rd behind Nokia and RIM. Apple shipped 47.5 million units equaling a 15.7% market share. RIM shipped 48.8 million with a 16.1% share and Nokia shipped 100.3 million with a 33.1% share.

This will most likely be RIM’s last year at number two seeing how Apple is now on Verizon and that PlayBook tablet seems to be “Dead on Arrival”.
