Apple responds to Sony Reader, Kindle concerns: Must have the option for in-app

So things got a little taken out of context last night when a report stating that Apple rejected the Sony Reader app because you had to purchase the content in the app. A new report has stated that while Apple would ultimately prefer that (30% of each purchase), they are saying that you can purchase things outside of the app but you must have the option for it to be an in-app purchase.
Smart move or too controlling? Obviously in a business sense it seems smart but for developers this could make it difficult for them to make a profit on Apple’s platform. We’ll see if Amazon has a response.
