Comparison between the HP TouchPad and the iPad 2. Which will you choose?

Before we start, we are aware that the iPad 2 technically does not exist yet. That being said check out what we know about it and let’s compare to HP’s just announced TouchPad tablet. Here’s a few specs:
  • Display – 9.7-inch XGA capacitive, multitouch screen with a vibrant 18-bit color, 1024×768 resolution display
  • Front facing camera only
  • Processor – Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-CPU APQ8060 1.2GHz
  • Storage – 16GB or 32GB
The TouchPad on paper looks relatively similar to the rumors of what the iPad 2 will look like. Let’s look at the TouchPad advantages:
  • Wireless charging
  • Integrated with other webOS products
  • Better notifications
  • Flash 10.1
  • HP printer compatibility
iPad advantages:
  • Price
  • Build quality, beautiful hardware
  • Tons of quality, exclusive apps
  • AirPlay
  • Dedicated Apple software (iWork, iMovie etc.)
  • 64GB storage option
The iPad 2 still looks like the winner at this point. Wireless charging and Flash aren’t deal breakers for people who have owned an iDevice and many HP printers are compatible with AirPrint. The quality apps, hardware and price are what really sells the iPad. I don’t get why HP went with the “generic glossy black PC” back on the TouchPad, it really just promotes the iPad’s look and makes it stand out that much more.
We will admit though that webOS is a great OS and really hope HP really pushes out new features and more products with it. Check out a video, full spec sheet and picture here.
