Sony may pull its music from iTunes. Looking for other delivery systems.

report states that Sony exec Michael Esphraim hinted very strongly that Sony may be pulling its music from Apple’s iTunes Store.
Sony hopes to launch its own service titled “Music Unlimited” which will stream music to the PlayStration 3, Blu Ray players and other Sony products.
Esphraim had this to say about iTunes:
”If we do [get mass take up] then does Sony Music need to provide content to iTunes?” Mr Ephraim asked. ”Currently we do. We have to provide it to iTunes as that’s the format right now.
”Publishers are being held to ransom by Apple and they are looking for other delivery systems, and we are waiting to see what the next three to five years will hold.”
Good business strategy or ignorance? With iTunes being the largest distributer for music it’s Sony would be making a bad move by pulling their music. At least make a credible phone first, then we’ll talk.
This may have been triggered by a recent “falling out” where Apple rejected Sony’s ebook reader app.
